Bio
Software Engineer with a passion for growing the community through teaching/promoting STEM education, youth mentoring, and entrepreneurship. Over the years I have transitioned from front end web development to full stack software engineering including API development and vehicle connectivity. My longstanding interest has been in AI/ML, however, until now most of my work took me into the opposite direction technically. Moving forward I am studying and pursuing a full time focus in AI/ML both as a Machine Learning Engineer in the short-term and as a Ph.D in the long-term. I currently live stream my AI/ML studies and projects M-F (amongst other tech projects and educational content). I produce and co-host the new trainX.ai podcast focused on encouraging Developers to understand and integrate with AI/ML tools. Outside of my personal focus, I am very involved in educating future and early-career Devs/SWEs through boot camps, and non-profits like Girl Develop It. I am based in Detroit where I was born and raised. Here I take part in the growth of our tech community as a co-founder of Detroit Black Tech and our annual Hacking With The Homies Developer Conference. As a community organizer I have extensive experience planning, executing, and speaking at Meetups or tech/engineering conferences including serving as the 2019 NSBE Convention Vice-Chair hosting ~15000 in Downtown Detroit. I believe in helping others traverse this career path with fewer obstacles and barriers than I’ve experienced and am always open to supporting/mentoring others. Soon, I will be launching my independent educational materials as MetaDevWorld and look forward to many more years of growth as a maker, doer, and supporter! I don’t listen to One Direction unfortunately!
