Elevator Pitch
Cybersecurity professionals deserve the creativity and communications skills to grab users’ attention before critical alerts need to be shared. This talk focuses on translating technical jargon into compelling stories through proven methods to capture audience attention when it matters most.
Description
Don’t become the team who cried wolf. Today’s onslaught of cybersecurity threats means customers are left to sift through complicated jargon or ignore alerts altogether. Level up your communication methods to break the mold and truly connect with people when it matters in a way they understand.
Notes
After years of working alongside technical teams fighting for more innovation, funding, and longterm support from their organizations, it’s clear to me that there is a critical communication gap between practitioners and their audiences. It does not matter how crucial the security alert or training topic is if nobody reads the email about it. That’s where visual communication comes in. From simple imagery to interactive strategy maps, bringing your stakeholders into the conversation is the differentiator when building buy-in and engagement with users. A keyed-in user base delivers a more secure system.
I combine communications experience across government, private, and nonprofit sectors, technology teams of all sizes, and a high-quality visual design firm to provide a unique perspective on this topic. In my opinion, this topic is a “need to have” for cybersecurity professionals and could expand far beyond just one keynote or session. My presentation would include interactive anonymous survey components using mentimeter to gather inputs from the audience and tailor my presentation to what matters most to those in the room. Ideally, there is a presentation screen large enough for all attendees to read those quick-hit responses. I will need high speed internet to maximize this format.
